merry christmas eve!

Christmas Eve is normally more important to me than Christmas Day. The Eve is when the family usually gets together, feasts, watches sports or movies, and opens presents! Then on the 25th we usually just relax and have a meal with whoever decides to come over again. This year, since my grandma is still in the hospital, no one in my family has a lot of Christmas spirit, which is kind of a bummer. We're still having dinner tonight. It won't be all of us, but it'll still be fun. Then, tomorrow I'll be going to my boyfriend's aunt's house for the day. That should be fun, too.

This year is the first year ever that I'm genuinely more excited to give than to receive. Every other year, I've had some big item on my "wish list," like a Nikon or a GPS. This year, I'm expecting nothing! So I'm really more excited to see my friend's/family's/boyfriend's faces when they open their gifts. Yay!

Oh, and a friendly reminder to all my readers...watch out for Krampus this year! You know how Santa is always watching you to make sure you've been good, and if you have, he brings you presents? Well, in some cultures, Santa has a counterpart named Krampus who finds you if you've been bad.

From Wikipedia:
Krampus is a mythical creature recognized in alpine countries. According to legend, Krampus accompanies St. Nicholas during the Christmas season, warning and punishing bad children, in contrast to St. Nicholas, who gives gifts to good children.

In the Alpine regions, Krampus is represented by a demon-like creature. Traditionally, young men dress up as the Krampus in Austria during the first two weeks of December, particularly on the evening of 5 December, and roam the streets frightening children with rusty chains and bells.

Brings a new meaning to "you better watch out," huh? Have fun today, guys! :)
