simple living series • t-shirt minimalization.

If there is one thing I have a lot of, it's t-shirts. Tees used to be a major part of my daily uniform, and I still wear them fairly often. Most of the tees I own are from college, high school, or middle school..or Goodwill, and a lot of them are dingy, have holes, or have shrunk. The other day, I attacked my two t-shirt drawers and narrowed it down to one. The rest are going to be made into a t-shirt quilt! I can't possibly get rid of them, so I think turning 30 t-shirts into ONE quilt is a great step towards a simple life. I can't decide if I want to make the quilt myself or outsource it to someone on Etsy. Has anyone ever done this? Suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Also, the remaining drawer of tees is almost overflowing. I'll be doing a second round of purging very soon.

  1. Way to purge! I've been doing the same thing. I don't have so many t-shirts, but the rest of my clothes were overflowing. I love the idea of making a quilt with them!

    1. Thanks! I don't remember where I first learned of the quilt-making idea, but I'm glad I did!

  3. I am working on a t-shirt quilt, though school kind of pushed that project way down the list. I'm not one to ever pay attention to rules and made it up as I go but so far it's coming along really nicely. I wasn't afraid to fool around with the design and sewing because I knew I wasn't going to wear those shirts anyway.

  4. I saw this and smiled because I just had to purge my dresser drawers about a month ago to fit more craft stuff into my room. Its so hard to get rid of things! Funny because now I can't really even remember what I got rid of. .

    1. That last bit is so true. I so rarely remember anything I donate/get rid of. That's even more of a reason to keep cleaning, right?
