Saturday at the Shore.

On Saturday, Frank and I drove down the shore for a mini-road-trip-day. We started off in Long Branch at an area called Pier Village. There's a bunch of shops and restaurants, but nothing struck our fancy that day. We sat on some rocks and soaked up the sun and sea air. I couldn't stop singing/humming/quoting "Old Cape Cod" by Patti Page, though I had to change the lyrics slightly. Once we got cold, we headed back north, stopping at a few other shore towns. Some of them are still in great disarray from Sandy, which is really sad. This great restaurant in Union Beach, Jakeabob's, which Frank and I visited a while back, is completely demolished. Keansburg, a tiny shore town with an amusement park I'd frequent as a child is up and running, though, and it doesn't look like too much was ruined! After that, we went to a BBQ joint in my hood for some apps, since it was right in between lunch and dinner. We got chili, jalapeno poppers, and buffalo chicken strips. SO good. P.S. If you want to see and hear the sound of the ocean, click here for a Vine I made!
