REVIEW: Traveling with Uncommon Goods

"At the core of our company is a great respect for the integrity of the creative individual and the belief that it is our responsibility to use our business to impact the world in a positive way."

When I booked my flight to Belfast in June, I started packing pretty much immediately. Don't judge; I was excited! Because I'm crazy, I decided I wanted to travel for about 12 days with just a carry-on. I spent the last few months making lists and whittling them down to practically nothing. It was kinda perfect timing when the generous people at Uncommon Goods reached out to me for a product review.

Uncommon Goods truly lives up to its name. I mean, have you looked at this site? I'm willing to bet you could find at least one gift that's perfect for literally every person you know. How cool is it that that most of the products they carry are created in the US, half of what they sell is handmade, and one-third of their collection incorporates recycled/upcycled materials?

The coffee cup
The iconic Anthora coffee cup has been immortalized in ceramic! I love this little slice of New York history. Even though it has no handle, it's perfect for sipping my morning coffee.

The bag
This bag was perfect for my trip to Belfast and has been wonderful for my busy days before/after the trip too! I work at two part-time jobs, which means I'm out of the house most of the day and I need to bring a lot of things with me. It fits everything I need, from books to a change of clothes to my phone charger and wallet and makeup bag. And the best part: even though it's pretty roomy, items don't get lost like they tend to do in bigger bags! The shoulder straps are super comfortable, even when the bag is full and heavy. The outside pocket fits my phone and keys. Did I mention it's reversible? Bright yellow on one side and striped on the other. It's like two bags in one! For my flight to Belfast, I only brought a carry-on bag and this tote as my "personal item". Before I left for the airport, I put everything I knew I'd need for the flight to my friend's apartment in the tote so I wouldn't have to dig into my luggage in the airports or during the flight.

The phone charger
This charger is one of those things that you never knew you needed until you had it. Both on this trip and in real life back home, it has become such an indispensable resource. It's about the size of a credit card, though a little thicker. You charge it through a USB and it charges your phone up to 60%! Perfect for busy days.
