The Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

Image
A few weeks ago, I met up with some old friends at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. It was my first time ever visiting, and I'm so mad I waited so long to check it out. What a beautiful, peaceful place. It's hard to believe the gardens are in the middle of one of the busiest cities in the world!
Is this okay? Thought it would be bigger.. This too.. That is not Betty Boop. Come on! Delicious cheese plate from the cafe. I love Danny Kaye. Also, I love Neil Diamond.

One Dress, Two Ways with Miskabelle • Part 2!

Image
This month, I'm partnering with the ladies at Miskabelle Vintage, and today we're presenting part two of "One Dress, Two Ways!" Manda, Jayme, and I swapped two dresses from our shops to style! Today, Jayme and I are wearing this dress from Miskabelle Vintage. The dress was slightly sheer, so I layered it with another plain black dress. Shout out to my sister, Erica, for doing my hair! :) Head over to the Miskabelle blog to see how Jayme styled this pretty dress! Find part one of this series here.

As if!

Am I the only person who still gets sad that Brittany Murphy died? "Clueless" is a modern-day masterpiece of cinema, if you ask me. Anyway, thank you for all the thoughtful comments on yesterday's post about minimizing my e-presence. I've still got a long way to go in minimizing my online life and real life, but I'm confident. :) Don't forget to enter the current giveaway, where you can win a large sponsor spot for the month of October. I'm off to the backyard for day three of revamping a vintage medicine cabinet. Wish me luck! what I'm wearing • sweatshirt: Forever 21 | jean leggings: Gap | glasses: Derek Cardigan via Coastal.com
moccasins: Minnetonka | bag: Coach, borrowed from my sister

Simple Living Series • Why I Deleted My Pinterest Account.

She must be crazy! Everyone is pinning! It's such a great source of inspiration! What is Lauren thinking? Guys, I don't even care. As much as I love Pinterest as an easy way to organize and share images, I just can't deal with it anymore for a few reasons.

• I have so many goals to accomplish in these next few months, and I find that even though I don't really use Pinterest organically (I kinda force myself to pin sometimes, just to keep my boards fresh), it is still a huge time-suck.

• During Kendi Skeen's speech at TxSC, I was introduced to the quote (allegedly by Teddy Roosevelt, but after this Shakespeare debacle, I can't be sure) "Comparison is the thief of joy." Isn't that all Pinterest is, really? I can't tell you how many posts/tweets I've read or real-life conversations I've had where someone has said that everything on Pinterest is too perfect. "Why can't my closet look like that? Her hair is so much more beautifu…

I'm just going to leave this here..

Brunch with Frank.

A rare (but highly enjoyable) brunch with Frank at the Golden Corner Diner in Bound Brook.

The Color Run 2012.

Image
Me? Doing a 5K? Yea, it happened. The Color Run NJ was held in Englishtown, NJ at Raceway Park, was so fun, and is up there with the Zombie Walk in the "What is Happening Here?" and "Hard to Explain to Other People" categories. For those of you who don't know... the Color Run is a 5K in which people throw colored powder at the runners and make a starchy, colorful mess. Also, the organizers donate to different charities (our run was for MS)! A few lessons for next year: the green powder makes everyone look really dirty, the corn starch powder mixed with sweat makes for a really strong hair gel, don't bring such a big bag, maybe don't bring a brand new (white) DSLR camera, get better sneakers, get there early, and get up close and personal with the people throwing the color.
