music monday: The Marshall Tucker Band - "Can't You See"

april round-up.

April was a really great month over here at A Wild Tonic. At the end of last month, I made a list of goals for the blog and the shop and I've reached (and exceeded) nearly all of them. (I'm patting myself on the back right now. You can't see it, but you'll just have to trust me.) I also put together a lot of blog posts that I'm really happy with. Here are a few of them..

DIY • pressed flowers wall art.

I have another really simple DIY for you today! Frank and I have long agreed that men giving women flowers is a bit silly. I'm sorry if you disagree, but he and I both think that money spent on a floral arrangement could be better spent on a day's worth of gas for a road trip or a meal at a restaurant. That's just how we roll. That said, I still do like and appreciate the occasional bouquet of flowers, and Frank does indulge every once in a while. One of these instances was this past Valentine's Day. He got me a little bundle of flowers with a big sunflower in the middle and I just loved it! I decided to press the flowers for memory's sake, but then I didn't know what to do with them. That's how this DIY was born.

Step 1: Gather supplies. I used some old art that used to hang in our bathroom (of all places) for the base/frame, tissue paper to cover the background, pressed flowers, and glue. To press the flowers, I put them in a wax paper bag and stuck it in…

Yesterday, I had a shorter day at the internship followed by dinner out with Frank. This is an example of what I wear to my internship on a day that the weather is not cold and rainy. These new heart-shaped sunglasses are my favorite thing. I really need to get myself to the eye doctor for a new contacts prescription so I can start wearing these (and my other sunglasses) more often. After work, as I mentioned, I went to dinner at Cracker Barrel with Frank. Cracker Barrel is one of those places that I love but I'm not sure why. I think it has to do with the fact that my family went there a lot on road trips when I was younger. Also because: they have fun games and crap all over the walls, those rocking chairs outside, and all those toys and things for sale in the front half of the restaurant. Regardless of why I love it, Frank realized that there's a Cracker Barrel about 20 minutes from his new apartment and decided he wanted to take me for no reason. What a guy, huh?

tonic tuesday 4/24: summertime.

Tonic Tuesday is back! A few weeks ago, I decided to end the series to focus more on "creating original content" for the blog. I realized that this pretty much is creating original content, plus I miss curating these weekly mini-treasuries and showcasing awesome vintage.. so here it is. This week's theme is summertime, which I am craving. It's been too chilly these last few weeks! Click the links below to go to the Etsy listings.

at the internship.

This outfit is a great example of what I've been wearing to my internship the last few days. It's been a bit chilly and rainy here in Central Jersey, and the store tends to get cold. I usually layer up with chunky sweaters and I'm almost always wearing my Ugg moccasins because they are SO warm and comfortable. Comfort is key when I'm there. I think the messy bun/top know signifies that pretty well. Ha! I took these photos with a crummy digital camera that we keep in the store. I know the quality isn't great, but I'm really trying to keep up with my daily outfit shots!
