WEARING • Gypsy Warrior Party in Hoboken!

Two weeks ago(?) I was lucky enough to attend the Gypsy Warrior party at Room 84 in Hoboken, celebrating the opening of their new shop. I picked up my event-going accomplice, Maria from Little Tree, we grabbed some coffee and headed north. The party was super fun, and we got to hang out with some old friends (Hey, Lauren!) and new. I attended this party right around the time I read "#GIRLBOSS" by Sophia Amoruso of Nasty Gal fame, and between the two I was so motivated and inspired. I love seeing women create these empires, and it gives me hope for my business-future. High fives all around! Also, we got gift bags from the party (my favorite piece of swag is a dope-ass mood ring) and pizza afterwards, so the entire night was a win.

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, I wore the same dress to work and to the party. I switched out my jeans, sweater, and mocs for a vintage sequined blazer, heels, and some fun jewelry. Above is a little day-to-night comparison. I wish I got a …

WEARING • Saved from the Goodwill Bag.

My weekly trips to Goodwill are for buying, not donating. However, my family and I donate in big batches 3-4 times a year. In the meantime, I keep a bag in my closet of "things to donate" whenever the bag gets full. I pulled this sweater out of that bag the other day and said out loud, "Am I CRAZY?" I bought it at Urban ages ago and I'm so glad it never actually made it to the donation bin. Other than this insane sweater, this is a fairly basic outfit. I wore it to work during the day before the Gypsy Warrior party a few weeks ago (more on that tomorrow). Wearing a dress with jeans was a major throwback, that's for sure. Also, I can't believe I'm only getting around to posting these photos now. Between Memorial Day weekend and my crazy work schedule, life has been a blur. I know some of you feel me.

In other news, new prints are coming to Wanderlust Print Co. very very soon. Get excited! :D

WEARING • Splurge vs. Save Challenge.

Erin from Credit Card Insider recently contacted me with a "Splurge vs. Save" challenge, and as soon as I read the email my first thought was "DUH YES!" You guys should know by now how much I love upcycling, bargains, and thrifting. One of the best things about wearing vintage or secondhand clothing is that you can find some truly unique pieces. One of the other best things is that you can find pretty common or trendy things for a fraction of the price. This burgundy velvet mini-dress is a great example of the latter. I found this little number at Goodwill a few months ago. Originally I intended on selling it in the shop, but I decided that my long-time crush on this style of dress, like this one from Nasty Gal warranted me keeping it for myself. I've worn it so many times since! Originally $78.00/now $54.60 at Nasty Gal, $3 at Goodwill. In this round of "Splurge vs. Save", I'd say "Save" wins! ;)
