music (cyber) monday: Hot Chocolate - "You Sexy Thing"

Image
Happy Cyber Monday, folks! Usually Monday is the worst day of the week for most people, myself included. This week, however, is a different story. I'm chock full o' motivation and ideas and plans and I'm stoked about it. Expect lots of great things in the next few days/weeks/months. :) One of the many tasks on the good ole to-do list today is to shoot all the vintage merch that is just sitting in my room, patiently awaiting a new home. I was putting this sexy black number onto my dress form and couldn't help but start singing "You Sexy Thing" by Hot Chocolate. Can you blame me? Also, the weather in Central Jersey is unreal today (low-70s in late November?) and this song is so fun to sing in the breezy sunshine!

Speaking of Cyber Monday, don't forget to check out the Etsy shop for the last day of the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale!

fake-baking • banana bread, an easy thanksgiving dessert!

Image
Today is Thanksgiving. For some people, today means leisurely eating turkey, watching football, and getting a little drunk with your family. For others, today means slaving over a hot stove, panicking about how the stuffing will taste, and battling a mountain of dirty dishes. I really love cooking and baking and all that jazz, I do..just not on holidays. I'm a firm believer in making things as easy and stress-free as possible. A few weeks ago, my mother bought this banana bread mix because she said she used to eat it all the time when she was younger. I (fake-) baked it for her as a surprise and she said it was just as good as she had remembered. In my opinion, this is a perfect dessert to make for Thanksgiving because it's so simple! Regardless of whether you love going nuts in the kitchen or would rather have your dinner at Ruby Tuesday, I wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving! :)

The ingredients and instructions were pretty basic, so you don't need much help from me …

happy thanksgiving!

I'm so thankful for my family, friends, boyfriend, and readers; my health; my iPad; and being able to do what I love! For what are you thankful?

oops. typical lauren.

Remember how I said that I was going to blog more frequently and consistently? Well, I pre-wrote some blog posts for the week and--guess what?--forgot to schedule them to post! Typical. Lauren. Anyway, I decided to combine what was supposed to be music monday and tonic tuesday here, since they had similar themes! The weather has been a little kooky here the last few days. One day will be clear and warm, and the next grey and rainy (or grainy, as I like to call it). Therefore the music monday song is "Blue Skies" by Mr. Bing Crosby (swoon) and tonic tuesday's theme is a little grey gift guide! Enjoy!

I bought this dress at Goodwill with the intention of cutting it into a nice mini-babydoll dress for the spring/summer. I tried it on to take "before" shots, and my sister and I agree that we kind of like the current length! What to do? I don't want to ruin it! What do you guys think? Do you like it better longer or should I chop off some inches? Anyway, I'm wearing my Polaroid Impulse around my neck because I shot a quick photo of my sister while she was shooting photos of me (look for it below)! We so craaazay.
