Dinner at Cafe Picasso.

Image
These photos are from a few weeks ago, but somehow I never got around to posting them. That happens a lot on this ole blog. Sometimes I wonder if it's just me who puts blog posts on the backburner. Is it? Please tell me you do this too. Anyway, better late than never. This blog is partially a photo-journal for my own posterity, so what does it matter when I post, right? These photos are from a dinner at Cafe Picasso in Somerville. Boy, do I love that town. Dinner was with Frank and his family. Delicious food and great company.

Updates.

• Remember me? I've been working on a big DIY project that has been sucking the life out of me. My muscles are goo. Does this mean I'm out of shape? Probably. There's no need to be secretive about it so I'll just say it--I'm building a table. As a person who works from home, I find that even the smallest problems or distractions can really upset my productivity for the whole day. One night, I was complaining to Frank about all the different roadblocks I face each day. As I was talking, all I heard was excuses, but Frank said they were valid issues that should be taken care of. I made a list of simple things that are standing in the way of my productivity and I'm working on them one by one. First up, I need a desk. A proper desk. Currently I work on my dresser, which I can't put my legs under, which means I end up sitting with my legs crossed. It's very painful and causes me to say "I have to lay down for a minute." Then work flies out the wind…

What I Ate.

Image
Trying to eat a little cleaner...but only a little! A mid-afternoon snack of Feta cheese crumbles, cherry tomatoes cut in half, baby carrots, and pickles. Pro tip: dip the open side of the tomatoes into the Feta for easy forkless eating. ;)

How to Wear Vintage • Statement Pieces.

Image
I think the point of a "statement piece" in an outfit is that there is just one. Everything else is pretty neutral or basic, and the BLAMMO--statement piece. This outfit has two statement pieces, a pair of bright floral shorts and a large beaded necklace. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I think it looks wicked cute. Anyone agree?

We've made it, friends. We've made it. Everything in the shop is 50% OFF the original price! I know it's crazy, but you should head over to the shop and take advantage of my craziness right now! Today will be a busy day for me, as I only have one more week to reach my new shop inventory goal. Next Tuesday (April 23rd), all the vintage listings will be set back to their original prices and the new vintage inventory will be rolled out. For the final time, I ask that you please check out the sale, tell your friends and family, share it on Twitter, Facebook, or anywhere else you'd like. Thank you, my popsicles!

An April Weekend.

Image
I realized last night that I haven't been writing enough here on the ole blog. I post plenty of photos, specifically of the vintage in my shop, which is what this blog is supposed to be for--a companion to the Etsy shop. (Run-on sentence alert, sorry friends!) Sometimes I feel like bloggers type too much about things no one cares about, and I think that's what deters me mostly. I'm going to give it a try today, and if you guys are bored out of your mind, just let me know. ;)

• The new vintage inventory project is wearing me down. I've never had a pile of inventory so large and so daunting. I've been working on it for weeks, and I'm not terribly close to my goal launch date (8 days from now). After much thought, I realize that I really don't like working alone on this kind of project. Frank helped out a few nights/weekends, as did my sweet sister (thank you both!). My mom just sat with me one day and kept me company, and even that helped. I know most people …

How to Wear Vintage • Pink and Blue.

Image
I love this possible outfit so much. Cutoffs are one of my favorite summer staples, and pairing a pair (ha!) with a bright pink crop top is just too cute. Speaking of summer staples, I'm so happy with this weather it's not even funny. Going to sleep with the windows open and not waking up freezing, beautiful nighttime thunderstorms and lightning displays, skimming the leaves out of the pool...oh spring, I love you.

Wild at Heart • Inks + Thread.

Image
I was introduced to the darling Maggie Pate by the equally lovely Beca of Tumbleweeds Handcraft a while back, and I have to admit I've got a big girl crush on her (on both of 'em actually)! Maggie just opened a new Etsy shop featuring beautiful scarves, one of which I just had to share. How perfect would this Wild at Heart scarf be for me? (My birthday is September 15th, in case you were wondering; and Frank, if you're reading this, our anniversary is coming up! ;)) Maggie says the scarf "is reminiscent of a delicate tattoo," which might be why I'm so drawn to it. Though I think the real reason is the "wild." A Wild Tonic, Wild at Heart? A match made in heaven, I think. Check out the whole shop and give Maggie a hello on Twitter if you'd like!

The end is almost here, my friends. Or maybe it's the beginning. If you follow me on Twitter, you'll probably be happy that this mega-clearance sale is almost over because that means I'll stop flooding your feeds about it (sorry about that friends, a girl's gotta make money). This week, all vintage in the shop is 45% off! Then next Tuesday, it'll all be marked down to 50% off the original price. After that (April 23rd), all items will be set back to their original prices and the new vintage inventory will be rolled out.

In regards to the new inventory, I'm going to post a few new items a day starting April 23rd. Most of what's coming is vintage housewares and home goods, clothing, scarves, and jewelry, with some clothing, shoes, bags, and other fun stuff in the mix as well. Follow me on Instagram for sneak peeks and behind the scenes things too! And as usual, I ask that you please check out the sale, tell your friends and family, share it on Twitter, Facebo…

Saturday at the Shore.

Image
On Saturday, Frank and I drove down the shore for a mini-road-trip-day. We started off in Long Branch at an area called Pier Village. There's a bunch of shops and restaurants, but nothing struck our fancy that day. We sat on some rocks and soaked up the sun and sea air. I couldn't stop singing/humming/quoting "Old Cape Cod" by Patti Page, though I had to change the lyrics slightly. Once we got cold, we headed back north, stopping at a few other shore towns. Some of them are still in great disarray from Sandy, which is really sad. This great restaurant in Union Beach, Jakeabob's, which Frank and I visited a while back, is completely demolished. Keansburg, a tiny shore town with an amusement park I'd frequent as a child is up and running, though, and it doesn't look like too much was ruined! After that, we went to a BBQ joint in my hood for some apps, since it was right in between lunch and dinner. We got chili, jalapeno poppers, and buffalo chicken strips.…

Lambertville and New Hope.

Image
Last weekend, Frank and I spent another lovely day in Lambertville and New Hope. We went to River Horse Brewery because the Summer Blonde (my favorite) was finally released. After that, we walked across the bridge to New Hope and had lunch at Bitter Bob's. I'm looking forward to spending many Saturdays like this over the summer.

The Owls Are Not What They Seem.

Image
I hardly ever share treasuries that my items are featured in, but this one is so good! I love "Twin Peaks," though I haven't watched it in a while. Might have to bust out the boxed set tomorrow! Welcome to Twin Peaks...
