kim's karnival!

Remember a few weeks ago when I asked for carnival party inspiration? Well, the party happened last weekend and it was a complete success! Kim did such an amazing job prepping for it (I helped, too!), and everyone had such a great time. Here's just some of what the party had to offer--a big white tent, an indoor mock-circus tent (that I made with fabric, hot glue, and a hula hoop!), popcorn machine, tons of pennants/bunting, a "You Must Be This Tall To Party" sign, margarita snow cones, one of those "stick your head in the hole and take silly pictures" banners, costumes, a hot dog cart, tons of food and candy, and so much more. I dressed up as "the Italian gypsy," as per Kim's mom's suggestion. I'm wearing my sister's dress, shawl, and gold hoop earrings from Forever21, shades from Prance & Swagger, a belt from Urban, this scarf from the shop, and a thrifted pin and shoes. I tried to find a Magic 8 Ball so I could actually tell fortunes, but instead I just downloaded an app on my phone and everyone loved it. Also, I used this turban tutorial from Starr over at A Thought is The Blossom, and it worked like an absolute charm! (Thanks, Starr!) Kim was the ringleader. Some other friends were: a popcorn vendor, the bearded lady, the tattooed lady, an elephant, a magician, carny workers, and the veterinarian (thanks to "Water for Elephants"). We celebrated the "unofficial kickoff to summer carnival season" long into the night, and I know that Kim had a blast, which is all that matters. Here are some photos!
