  1. I have plenty of memories of travel since my dad has been in the military since I was born! My mom and I drove from Indiana to North Carolina every holiday and Summer. We would talk, laugh, and sing together on those long car rides. I'll never forget them!

  10. My favorite quote about travel: “What is that feeling when you're driving away from people and they recede on the plain till you see their specks dispersing? - it's the too-huge world vaulting us, and it's good-bye. But we lean forward to the next crazy venture beneath the skies.”

  11. This isn't a quote or a memory (though I have many), it's a hope. (if it doesn't count, sorry). Travel has been on my mind a lot lately, mainly seeing a dear friend in the UK. We've talked a lot about him coming to the us, for many many months now, if he's able to come here we want to be married, then he would like to show me his hometown. Very romantic, and not like me at all, but it's been a crazy year and hopefully a crazier future.

  27. I follow this blog. My favourite travel memory is visiting the seaside town of Tranquebar in South India that was once a Danish Colony. I had not known about this place and had never heard the name 'Tranquebar' before until I read the book 'Tranquebar: A Season in South India' by Georgina Harding. The book was so beautifully written that I felt an instant connection with this place and had to visit it. When I finally reached the place, I knew almost every street and every corner of the town for the book was etched on my mind. I stayed at an old Governor's House, in the bedroom named after an 18th century sailor called 'Christopher Septimus.' I want to be married on the lovely sands of the beach in Tranquebar ~ which translates to the 'Land of the Singing Waves.' Attached is an image of a 16th century Hindu temple on the Tranquebar beach ~ the view is from the Governor's House.
