DIY • Pressed Flower Wall Art

I have another really simple DIY for you today! Frank and I have long agreed that men giving women flowers is a bit silly. I'm sorry if you disagree, but he and I both think that money spent on a floral arrangement could be better spent on a day's worth of gas for a road trip or a meal at a restaurant. That's just how we roll. That said, I still do like and appreciate the occasional bouquet of flowers, and Frank does indulge every once in a while. One of these instances was this past Valentine's Day. He got me a little bundle of flowers with a big sunflower in the middle and I just loved it! I decided to press the flowers for memory's sake, but then I didn't know what to do with them. That's how this DIY was born.

Step 1: Gather supplies. I used some old art that used to hang in our bathroom (of all places) for the base/frame, tissue paper to cover the background, pressed flowers, and glue. To press the flowers, I put them in a wax paper bag and stuck it in a book for a few weeks.

Step 2: I wrapped tissue paper (which I hoarded for years for some unknown reason) from Henri Bendel around the card stock art that was originally framed. Then I set up the flowers in the arrangement I liked. Once I decided on the design, I glued a few parts of the flowers to the paper for security.

Step 3: I put the art back in the frame and secured it with the little pins it came with. All done!
