Cheap Date 03 • Hot Dog Johnny's.
Frank and I took a drive out to Hot Dog Johnny's in a town called Buttzville (8|), NJ a few days ago. We've been there before, but decided to go back because it's just so kitschy. It's one of those "road trip must-stop" kind of places, which has been family owned and operated since 1944. Cash only. Hot dogs, fries, drinks only. Park and walk up to the counter. Eat outside near the Pequest River or in a small, open-air dining room. Apparently there are usually huge lines at this place, but fortunately when we went it was pretty slow. I got two dogs with fries and a soda, as did Frank, and it came out to less than twenty dollars. The hot dogs are cooked in peanut oil and are so tasty. And check out the typography on that french fry bag! The coolest.
