march radness challenge: day two.

3/16 • bring items to the tailor
Those jeans that need hemming? That silk blouse with a tear in it? The sweater with missing buttons? If you're like me, you have a solid amount of clothing items that you never wear because they need repair. Don't put it off any longer!

I brought three items to the tailor today! Well, actually I brought four, but the woman said she probably couldn't fix the fourth thing. I'm getting a pair of jeans hemmed, a hole in a sweater patched, and the stitching on a leather backpack reinforced. I had no idea tailors were so expensive (or did I just get robbed?)! I know I have more items in need of repair floating around my room, so I'll try to make another pile for Wednesday, which is when I'm picking up my goods!

  1. Good for you, yeah I have the problem of always wearing the same things, then having lots of things in my closet going unworn for various reasons. One of the main being that I think the clothes are too nice for an ordinary day. However, I'm deciding to dress nicely for simple occasions like going to the store or out for coffee, simply for the sake of actually wearing all of the clothing that I've purchased. Do you know that hemming pants is fairly simple? My roommate has me do these kinds of repairs for her.

  2. It's only been since December that I've been mending instead of replacing, but it's sooooo nice to be able to wear those beloved closet items again instead of having to throw them out. Plus, it supports local businesses, and as expensive as it may be, is usually cheaper than a replacement! :)
