My sister is a genius with a sewing machine. She somehow transformed this vintage house-dress (a crazy '60s swirly patterned muumuu with a pink crocheted collar--$4 at Goodwill, what up!) into an awesome mini-dress, which I wore to the TxSC Prom party! Here's how she did it: put the dress on me, pinned the fabric where it needed to be taken in and hemmed, turned the dress inside-out, and sewed it up. After she made sure the dress fit me right (it took two tries!), she cut the remaining fabric and voilà! A new dress. Erica, thank you! ♥

Last week, I announced my goal for Jenny's Let's Make Habits series. Here's my entry for this week!
Week 1 (August 17): 1st Week Update + Your Schedule and Plan of Action
My plan is to blog at least once a day (sometimes twice), and so far I've kept up with it. I remember reading somewhere that to start or break a habit takes three weeks. If that's true, I'm more than halfway there! I've been spending a few hours a day working on blog posts, then deciding which posts should be published each day. The only real problem I've run into is not getting around to blogging until really late. I don't love blogging at 10PM, but some days it happens. I'm trying to work on that. Ultimately, I would like to spend a few hours once a week (maybe Monday?) working on the outline of my blog posts for the week. Then every morning I work on the post or posts for the day and click publish. I don't like writing post text too early in advance because I think it sounds disingenuous, so I'll definitely save that part for each morning. Of course, I'm going to leave myself some wiggle room and work on some "evergreen" blog posts, reserved for those days that I really don't have time to sit down and blog. Okay, that's it for this week! :)

  1. I love the dress! That's fantastic work. So creative. At first I was like, "Is she serious with this?" But then I was like, "SO CUTE!" :)
